A high micropore activated carbon sphere manufactured from polymeric precursors, with improved compressive strength and reduced ash content. Applied in removal of heavy metals, organic dyes, carbon dioxide and volatile organic chemicals, and used for catalyst support, gas storage, energy applications and chemical protective clothing.
