How it is removed
Short-chain aldehydes and alcohols are small, polar and weakly held, so physical adsorption alone releases them again as conditions change. A permanganate-impregnated medium oxidizes them instead, and a reactive impregnation fixes formaldehyde to the surface rather than storing it. For formaldehyde specifically see the dedicated page.
